Halloween is Jonathan's favorite holiday, and we think of him at every turn, from his “Taste of Halloween” candy corns, to his Phantom of the Opera costume, mostly made by him. This year has been particularly memorable. We bought candy corns to decorate our cookies and I used leftover silver fabric from Jonathan's phantom cape to make the gauntlets and shoulder armor for Dallin and Spencer’s costumes. But the last three days have been filled with requests for Jonathan's costumes. Stephanie Raymond sent an e-mail asking if she could borrow his fedora. (I had to look in the dictionary to find out what a fedora is before I could search for it.) I was able to find it easily and she came yesterday to borrow it. Then yesterday, Maddie Cluff borrowed a pair of pink and orange pants and Jonathan's navy crushed velvet vest. She had a black wig and was going as a 70’s “hippy”. As I was telling Bob about all of this costume lending, he said, “I was hoping to wear Jonathan’s phantom cape to work on Friday. Has it been loaned out?” So this morning, Bob wore Jonathan's gold vest, (with his own Nauvoo pocket watch), navy ascot, tux with tails and black cape. He looked terrific! He is going as Carlyle Cullin, the vampire “doctor/father” from the Twilight series. He even took his white lab coat to wear when he removes the cape. So thank you, thank you, Jonathan, for your costume wardrobe. We realize that you will be dressing up as a missionary for Halloween again this year, but your costumes are being worn with thoughts of you.
