CAMPING

We enjoyed camping at Spruces in Big Cottonwood Canyon. We hiked to Donut Falls (and ate doughnuts, of course!) The hiking trail was very shady and beautiful with wild flowers and raspberries.

Our Grandchildren loved picking berries, chasing ground squirrels, and eating, eating, eating, any time except mealtime!
Dallin created a treasure hunt, as part of his cub scout achievements. He hid the treasure in an "antique" looking treasure box that Bob had made for a family reunion. It was fun to watch the children figure out the clues, then run to the next clue.
Grandpa took the four oldest grandchildren on a hike to a nearby stream. They found these binoculars, which Spencer and Emmy used to discover each other's eyes, throats, etc.
One of the highlights was our campfire songs. Each family had prepared a song to teach everyone. Some of the favorites were Grandpa's (There was an old woman who swallowed a fly.), Dallin and Spencer's (Old Dan Tucker), Emmy and Abby's (I had a Little Turtle), and Jonathan's (Tarzan of the Apes).

We were very pleased with how well our trailer supplied us with many comforts and conveniences. The weather was perfect, too. We can't wait until the next camping trip! The only thing that would make it better would be to have Wes, Cami, James and Garratt with us.

  1. oh I'm jealous! Looks like SO much fun. Funny thing- I sing 'There was an old woman who swallowed a fly' to James all the time. It's one of his favorites! Miss you!!
