apron business

I have been making "flirty aprons" as gifts for friends, and they have turned out so cute. It is fun to put together contrasting fabrics, add rick rack, and end up with an apron that makes cooking and baking more fun. There was always a little fabric left over, so I designed a child's apron pattern and sewed up a prototype. Here is the end result. Notice that the neckband goes through a casing and becomes the ties for the waist in the back, making it adjustable.
Emmy enjoyed being the model, and the "little kitchen" is a perfect backdrop. I am making one in a larger size now. A friend told me that she is hosting a Christmas boutique this fall, and I think I will make some to sell. I may even make "mother-daughter" matching apron sets. How's that for planning ahead? It may not sound like such a good idea this fall when other things have crowded in front of the construction phase of my "apron business". For now, I am using up the "scraps" and enjoying being creative.
