Today was filled with walking. We met Juan Blanco in the Plaza Mayor at 9:30 and he showed us Casco Antiguo, which is the old "antique" part of Caceres. He was able to give us details that we wouldn't have known otherwise, such as an old medieval bridge that needed to be replaced, but the people wanted it saved. So to please everyone, they kept a part of it and built a roundabout around it, thus keeping up with traffic needs and preserving artifacts.

This statue is representing "Semana Santa"or holy week. People dress like this for the parades.

Sir Jorge, who slew a dragon, or so legend has it.
Here we are at the top of Santuario de la Vergen de la Montana. The climb was paved all the way with pavers and was an easy and beautiful climb. We could see the entire city of Caceres from up there.
Elder Ogden on top of the world!
There is also a church at the top as well as a restaurant. Juan and I learned to communicate quite well with my limited Spanish and his limited English. Jonathan was able to talk about the gospel with him, too. We are picking him up for church tomorrow.
After eating a "pizza doner kebob", we traveled 30K to Trujillo where Pizarro was born and lived. The most impressive part was an old castle that we could walk through, on top of the walls, under the cisterns, and in the chapel. Jonathan was in heaven there, and he took a lot of pictures. Below the castle were baby lambs with their mothers. The mothers wore bells around their necks. The sights and sounds of Trujillo were amazing.
We couldn't believe that a tree could be growing here.
This is the plaza in Trujillo with a statue of Pizarro on a horse. It looks very similar to the Plaza Mayor in Caceres.

We returned to Caceres in time to meet the branch for a soccer game at a court across the street from the church and a message from the missionaries. It was great to meet President Blanco and other branch members. I can't belive we fit all of that activity into one day, but my feet surly could.
