Family Tree
One of my assignments for my parents-in-law's 60th Anniversary Celebration was to make a "Family Tree" showing Mom and Dad's posterity. I searched online for a template, and the only one I liked was printed to look like fabric. That sparked an idea: why not make it from actual fabric. The more I thought about it, the more excited I became. After all, I am much more comfortable with fabric than computer programs!
And this is the result. The parents are at the "heart" of the tree, the five children (with spouses) are in the "birdhouses", and each grandchild has a monogrammed apple. The married grandchildren are shown with their spouses and children. The pictures are detachable, so when someone gets married or has more children, they can send in an updated photo. Also, each of the five children's posterity has apples from a different fabric pattern (too subtle to tell in this photo). The entire thing is machine quilted and embroidered. It was displayed at the celebration (dinner/dance at the church).
